Harnessing Green Energy

At a point in my life, somewhere around the late 90s I have thought that humanity is so developed that there is no more space for innovation, all industries were advancing minimally and there was (or I thought so at least) no space for new innovators to stand out in front of giants like Edison, Newman, Wright brothers and all other inventors who have brought humanity to the point it is at today.

This was up until now, I grew older, it is 2022 to be exact, my priorities grew different with me, and world primacies have changed drastically maybe faster than mine’s. Fundamental Innovations have become more needed than ever, like those of electricity, internet, or telecom. Innovations that would strike a positive difference in our lives, our ecosystem and guarantee a green future for the ones we love?

When we say enhance our lives, the statement by itself is relative to individual needs, but one sort of enhancement that we can all agree on are the ones related sustainability hence the survival of the human species. During the last century nearly 500 different species have become extinct and that’s just the beginning, global warming is threatening the extermination of another 550 species by the year 2100, and from there onwards we all know whose lives and welfare will be on the line.

Nevertheless, on the optimistic side of things our human race is now trying to reverse the equation of their own disruption with new inventions designed specifically to sustain our green space, clean our oceans, filter the air we breathe, and manage our waste. Cities are moving away from being dependent on carbon fuel, and countries in the gulf region are diversifying their economies away from oil and gas.

General motors launched their 1st electric car back in 96, electric vehicles owns today 21% of the vehicle market share in Europe,  renewable sources of energy are being put to use, and Sweden is taking the lead on the energy transition scene with an ETI (Energy Transition Index) score of 79.  Governments are funding researches to boost sustainable developments, private companies are taking the environment more seriously and brands are awakening their sense of sustainable responsibility expanding purposeful solutions to single users.

The word sustainable is preceding all words in the dictionary, and even though it might be a trend and have little authenticity to it, starting with a trend is a good start, fake it till you make it they say and we need to make it.

I look at my kids and I wonder what future they will have? though it’s not mine to see but I still can wonder.

 Will it be digital?

Will it be green?

Will it be clean?

Will it be purposeful?

And sure, yes it will be! With innovations like aerial seeding, urban foresting, ocean clean up there is a lot to look forward to.

I don’t like to stop at the idea that the life on earth will soon be unlivable, it will change that’s for sure, but it will not end, nature will prevail and in this I trust…

Our kids will have a beautiful future, full of snow, greenery, clean air, organic food, and good life. Why not? You get what you aim for, and this is what we aim for. Startups like Reforest, Dendra, The Ocean Clean Up and CO2 revolution should take the lead in the future of corporate objectives.

World orders are changing, people are obsessed with the metaverse and NFTs from the screens of their homes they are dreaming of a life in the digital world that they never had in real life while on ground activists are becoming obsessed with sustainability, keeping our earth clean and livable for the digital generations to come.

What’s I can see from this formula is that digital age and sustainable businesses are unintentionally working hand in hand for a new chance for the future. While mass societies feed their consuming instincts on the digital scene away from the real world, activists are taking this opportunity to reforest our landscapes and clean our oceans.

This organized chaos is simply leaving space for humanity to “Harness Green Energy”
